Toro Timecutter Stalledand wont restart

I have a Toro Timecutter SS3200 and while cutting the other day, it stalled and will not restart. My neighbor is a mechanic and he narrowed it down to the anti backfire solenoid. However I cannot get the part until late next week because no one has it in stock except Toro. My question is, can I cut the pin off the solenoid to allow fuel to pass through the carb for a temporary fix for a few days until the part arrives? Has anyone ever done this before?

Sure...but ..they will usually start working again if you clean them...
Just ground the case and touch the terminal to pos. To check...
