Tablets to run the business

I'm thinking about buying a tablet to use for the business. I'm a big spreadsheet nerd I've been keeping track of things on paper while out working, then inputing info on to the computer when I get home.

Do any of you guys use tablets much to help run your business?

I was looking at a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the Verizon store today. It looks pretty cool and I'm thinking hard about pulling the trigger. Anyone have any experience with buying refurbished electronics?

I haven't gone that route yet because of the dirt and dust. Most of what we mow here is so dry and dirty, that Im afraid the screens would take a beating. I've been using a 3 ring binder and taking my notes in it...then transcribing things over to the laptop and quickbooks at home.

I use a iPad mini with quickbooks and its great. I can do my job on a property and then before I pull off my customer has the invoice in their email. OR I print invoices to give them a paper copy upon completion. It's great. I use the desk top computer in my office as much as I do my iPad now. I love it and wouldn't change this process for nothing right now.

I did buy a "used" Samsung Galaxy tablet online through Verizon. I have had it 2 years and zero problems with it. When it came it was packaged and wrapped and could not tell it was used at all.

I just switched to a smart phone several months ago and now find myself using the smartphone more than the tablet, only because its with me more.

Is there an app that will allow you to edit information in spreadsheets? I have Dropbox that lets me open read-only documents but I can't change anything.

SkyDrive operates in much the same way as Dropbox, only it is built by Microsoft. You can edit Microsoft docs, such as Word and Excel, on the go, and they will automatically sync across your devices, like Dropbox.

Last time I checked you could get 7GB for free, and pay a pretty low annual fee for extra storage.

There is a Skydrive app which will help you manage all this on your phone or tablet.

I use google docs for spreadsheets and stuff. It is free and it is always synced with whatever you are on. I can start a document on my computer, look at it on my phone, and edit it on my ipad and when I go home it's already changed on my computer when I open google docs. They have an app that makes it easy to navigate too.
