Aftermarket sprockets are about 175 a piece. So tracks and sprockets are less than 2800.00 dollars. Thats about 2 dollars per hour cost of owning a CTL so far.

TL 140. got about 1300 hours out of tracks. That 2 an hour was just track costs. My sprockets are good enough too just swap sides rather than replace. There was quite a bit of discussion years ago how expensive CTLs where going to be too maintain over a wheeled machine so I was breaking it down to just track costs.

Last time I broke it down, I was at $2.35/hr for total undercarriage wear.

Nice! Owner/Operator? What kind of work? Did you order new tracks yet? I cannot say enough good about the Solideal/Camoplast tracks. My new business partner is talking about adding a TL240 to my existing equipment list....he wants to put the Solideal tracks on immediately.

I would ask, are you the main operator for those hours? How productive do you think the tracked unit is over say a wheeled one for you?

I operate it about 80% of the time. The tracks would have went longer if not for another operator running the track off and then try too run it back on and tore the whole inside of the track off. Thats also where it finally broke.

As far as more productive than a wheel machine thats not really a far comparrison. CTLs do minimal damage too lawns, never too wet too work, Grade better and no flat tires. I rarely bill my machine out by the hour so productivity is really good as far as income generated per hour of machine time. I have no interest in having too spend 8 too 10 hours a day on a skid steer too make a living which makes my use not applicable too most other contractors. It is a tool just like a chainsaw too me. All my equipment is used globally too accomplish each job in the most efficient manner. I have several contractors with wheeled machines that hire me too help them rather than use there machines due too productivity and low ground pressure of my machine. A wheeled machine has it's place obviously and they excell in areas that CTL's don't which is why many have both.

I use it for everything, spreading gravel, rip rap, demoing concrete back filling and grading etc. Mostly just moving dirt. The wharehouse is right up the street from me so I will pick them up next week.
