Pulser question

I just got a pulser locator and have absolutely no idea how to work it. Couple of questions, when the A-frame is in the ground and when it first kicks towards red or black is that the true reading? Because on mine it will kick towards the red or black side then it will go completely to the opposite side so I guess what Im asking is when it kicks the first time is that the reading you are supposed to use? Also, when you get your first null, is that when you turn the A-frame 90 degrees to the line you were on and try to get another null? Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I call it a 3-90 turn.

when the A-frame nulls that means the fault is between the earth probes. Move the trailing leg to the null, the kick will reverse hard, spin the A-frame on that leg and the kick will be toward that same leg. You are directly over the fault.

Sent you a pm with my number if you need anything else.

Which GFL are you using?
My GFL, in which the floating fleet manufacturer's name will remain nameless, (someone better give Bruce crap for this) was not wired correctly and gave a black kick instead of a red kick. Easy enough to rewire but still did give me incorrect readings at first.

Stretch a length of wire between 2 screwdrivers. take a few wraps around each, leave room on each end to work with.

Strip the far end and insert the bare wire into the earth.

Set the transmitter up at the near end, strip and connect transmitter.

Assemble A-frame, turn both units on and start learning.

Best of luck to you.

Mission accomplished many moons ago, the day after you told me in fact.
