issue with grass being burnt

After mowing last week and returning to mow once again this week there appears to be burnt grass in the form of the stripes I made by my wheels. I have been cutting high, customer waters, and I change direction every cut as to not over hurden the grass. The grass obviously did not bounce back and in a few spots it has burned in the presence of the tire tracks. Not sure why it happened but need to know why it did as to prevent further destruction, Help!!

The lawn was to dry when you drove over it the tires broke the grass basically.
If the grass is dry and crunchy water it before you mow or this will happen. Good news is it just takes lots of water and 2 weeks to bring it back.

I'm glad you posted this. I noticed that happening to a couple of my yards this week also. Haha I thought it was my mower or something!

Its a good idea to watch for dry crunchy grass, and explain what will happen to the customer if they don't water the day before you come in. Otherwise they will accuse you of having round up on your tires or some other rediculous accusation. Ive heard it all over the years.

I was kinda embarrassed to post it as I could have believed I may have done something wrong but I wanted to learn from whatever it was that I was doing wrong in to prevent it from happening again.

Newbies ask this every year, it's really nothing to worry about.

Too dry or too wet, either way can cause this.

By the way it don't always come right back I have seen southern grass that it didn't come back ever. If grass is dry do not go over it use trimmer. And don't bother watering first that don't work eiither.
