kawasaki engine oil leak

I have a 21 hp Kawasaki with 900 hrs and recently noticed a oil leak on back of engine, which leaks down to muffler. Talked to my local dealer and he recommended engine reseal, which I assume go thru engine and replace the oil seals, which he quoted me a price of $700 to 850 dollars. Anyone ever do this themselves to save? If so, is this something a average person can do? I've done some repairs such as spindle replacements, and pulleys, removed starter and had it rebuilt. But never any type of engine rebuild work. anyone have the same type of oil leak on their Kawasaki? just looking for some advise, hate to spend that type of money, if I can do it myself.

Kawasaki engines are garbage. They all leak oil. Best advice I can give you is to never buy another one. I have had a dozen Kawasakis and they all leak oil between 300 and 1200 hours and always die before 1500 hours. Buy a Kohler or a Vanguard next time.

700-850 dollars is a rip off. You can get a new engine wholesale for around that. Find someone else to fix it.

That is really expensive. I had my Harley Davidson resealed for cheaper than that.
