kawasaki fh580v 19hp valve cover

I was replacing my valve cover, it was leaking a very little bit, and found these pieces sitting in the bottom of the cylinder. What the hell are they from? Two small metal pieces and a very small floppy spring. Mower runs great. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!Name: WP_20130806_001.jpg

That would be what's left of yer intake valve stem seal. The engine will run fine without it, but might start smokin' at bit at startup, shutdown, load etc. Just keep an eye on the oil level.
Eventually ya wanna get it fixed, but should be OK for the rest of the season.
Did ya check yer valve clearances while you had it opened up?
