Colored MR-16's source

Can anyone recommend a supplier for colored MR-16 lamps? Preferably LED and I am specifically looking for blue. I tried FXL's dichroic color filters but they weren't very blue.

I Did a job last year where I needed blue light to shine on a blue surface to make it pop. I used brilliance PAR36 LED's in blue. They also have MR16's LED's in blue as well.

If I might ask, what do you want to light up blue?

Client has bullet downlights on a large pergola. IMO, blue looks tacky but it's what the client wants. I'm sure a picture would help, will get one at next weeks visit. Ever have one of those customers that prefer odd colors? Yea.......

I agree.. blue would look tacky and serve no purpose.. when going against a hardscape surface... especially. I've used blue lenses before when lighting up certain types of blue atlas cedars etc.. and they can make the blue really pop.

Have you shown them simple warm white LED's in their fixtures and how that would look?

Maybe you could put a run of blue LED tape light under a railing or something that they could turn on when they are feeling blue..... ;-).... but otherwise the warm white downlights can stay pure.

Good luck..( you'll need it)

George

It's coincidental that this subject would be brought up when I was just thinking about this myself. I had a potential client (with a $2 million property) make a passing comment about maybe wanting some colored lights. I didn't say anything at the time but I've wondered what I will say if we get farther along in discussions.

We just added a line of dichroic color filters. Go to this page to see photos of the filtered light projected on a white wall (our 2,800K, 84 CRI, LED Impressionist directional was the light source).

I selected these colors based on extensive testing of dozens of different filters. The 9 colors we selected are a good solid set for color correction and special effects.

I have a client that likes to change the color of light to match the theme of whatever party they are having...ballgame team colors etc...
We've installed several Halco RGB MR16 (color changing) LED lamps and have had good success. You buy the remote seperate to control the colors.
Hope this helps.
