craigslist scam

I just got a call from what seems like a scammer. I live in VA and the call was from GA claiming to be a property manager needing a lawn cut but said i would have to fill out some paperwork including a w-9 which asks for my social security also they want my bank account for direct deposit. Im almost certain its a scam and im not going to give it to them. I said that I would be glad to cut this lawn but they would have to mail me a check and she said they dont pay with checks so what do you guys think? here is their website which looks sketch as i have ever seen. http://www.gmpsvcs.com

Looks like the typical we need you to take 30 pictures of before, during and after mowing. Then upload in a specific order. If there is something the slighest bit wrong we will deny your claim for 18 bucks. Requesting your info actually gives them a measure of credibility. Those companies usually pay by wire transfer and not check. Oh and the grass hasn't been cut in 3 months and is trash strewn which you will also have to clean up.

I don't even bother with them. I just hang up the phone when I start hearing things like pictures and stuff.

Anyone who accepts this type of work is an idiot. 20$ a cut , not even worth the 10 seconds they waste with a phone call. They r looking for lowballer idiots who are naive enough to take on the **** properties that they have. You might as well go work for minimum wage at mcdonalds because you aure arent making any money, are ruining equipment on crappy overgrown properties and are waiting for payment you may not even get. And pcitures after ? Ya , no thanks!

I got at least 10 calls from these companies. they pay 20 dollars and the grass is knee high? I told them to get a goat! it isn't worth it and they expect 20 pics per property! I spoke to a real estate agent and he said u will have to wait 60 to 90 days to get paid! he also said when the grass is knee high u only get the 20 dollars but they are getting 100! and they could deny ur pay because of the pics, but they get paid and u don't! let them go out and do it themselves! scammmers and a holes!!!!

As with everything, there are good ones and then there are scammers trying to rip you for every dime. I do this type of work for 2 different companies. Both pay WELL above the "$20" this company told you. Do I get crap jobs? Yep! Do I get cake jobs? Yep! But both the ones I deal with are true to their word, pay regularly, and I can ALWAYS get someone on the phone when I have a question or problem with an account/property. To me, that's no different than dealing with PIA residential or commercial accounts you have to hound for payment.

JUST my opinion....
