Compact Utility Loader for Grading?

I am redoing my backyard and will be doing some grading. The ground currently slopes towards my house (about 1.5 ft over 20 ft). I will be leveling out an area for a patio and installing a retaining wall at the back of my yard (probably about 10 yards of soil to remove).

I am debating how to remove the soil to level this out. I have limited access (40") so a compact utility loader is my only option unless I do it by hand. One rental store said that compact utility loaders do not work well for digging and another said it would work fine.

Do you think a compact utility loader would work okay for this grading?

Thanks!

David

Rent a ripper attachment (approx $10/day) with the mini loader and you can do fine.
