repowering an old mower, which is worth it?

shopping two machines right now guys, and both will need to be repowered, which one would you get? both are John Deere:

F725 with 1750 hours on the meter - water in oil, the guy that owns it things replacing the water pump will fix the issue, I think it is a motor on its way out.
deck was decent.

Z425 I forget the hours, but the motor is blown.

both owners claim the hydros are good, and were good running and cutting machines before they ran into the current serviceability situation.

If you got either one for a song, which one would you consider more worth the time? (actual potential acquisition cost not included here - I want evaluations of the machine potential, not the machine cost.) And, just finding that the z425 was available at the Home Depot made my decision for me. Still, thoughts on the z725 are appreciated.

currently shopping:
ExMark Metro 48
ExMark Commercial 30
Ford F250
Ariens edger.

the bottom list should maybe get shorter, while the top gets longer, but I know there will always be more stuff!

No, not with that many hours, once you replace the engine you're likely to run into one problem after the next but if you can get them for free I would either part them out or stick a lower horsepower engine in it.

Repowering a JD could be problematic. They like to have engines made just a little special for them.
