How to remove top Toro 606

They will unscrew then hit a stop but the gut won't pull out of body. I'm just salvaging the SS spring to recycle. What's the trick?

The spring is binding, use greater force.

That's the same spring as is in the S700 heads, and they could do the same thing.

How often do you need the spring from one of those?

I don't actually reuse the spring, I take it to the metal recycling place.

I remember looking for pop bottles to collect for refund. My irrigation junk goes straight to the dumpster, not worth the hassle.

I'll admit it's not worth the trouble but just trying to save the world, one sprinkler head at a time.

Make sure you save the 'rare' components so the world never forgets.

I was kind of thinking the S606 heads sold at home centers might be the last remaining Toro rotors that can easily thread into the space once occupied by a Super600

I'm not sure what head you're talking about but I would think it's about time to move and upgrade a S-600 by now.

Some really rocky-crappy landscapes make a project of replacing heads with larger, taller ones. Nice to have exact fits ready to thread in, and no digging required.
