Kawasaki 15HP stalling intermittently

Hey guys,

On my Toro 36" I have a Kawasaki 15HP engine and it stalls but not completely shuts down on an intermittent basis. It's done it off and on for over a year now and it only does it when I do a three point turn as I pull the machine back towards me and if I am on uneven ground. I've had the carb cleaned this season, replaced the fuel filter about 2 months ago and the funny thing is, is that it ran fine for about 3 weeks after replacing it. Then it went back to the occasional stall. I've loosened the fuel cap as it bogs down and doesn't seem to help. I just replaced the fuel pump as well. Today while I was out mowing I disengaged the blades and as I was going up my ramp into the trailer it tried stalling out. Any ideas?

Check the short rubber hose coming off the fuel pump. The one that provides the vacuum pulses to operate the fuel pump. I fought that same problem for over two years. Come to find out that hose one of the ends got out of shape and it would randomly loose vacuum signal and cause the fuel pump to work erratic and the engine would try to stall out. I put a small hose clamp on the end that was oblong 2 years ago and it has never acted up since.

Thanks for your input guys. I know this may sound weird but I was going over my engine and maching over the weekend and I discovered that the connectors for the, I believe it's called the operator presence control, were slightly loose. I cleaned them off, reattached them and it's been running like a champ since then.

One really simple thing: make sure the pin hole in your fuel cap is open. If it is dirt-ed up, you cause vapor lock in your fuel system and the engine will shut down.

I went thru this with my PG Mag, embarrassing how simple of fix it was.
