Sometimes we do depending the job. I started this job last night with the explorer and a wheelbarow and some misc tools because my guys had the other trucks tied up so I had the mulch delivered to this job. $100 to deliver the mulch which was excessive I know but I have to pass it to the customer. But normally I use a guy to deliver mulch in our inserts if there 20 yards or under. Alot of times it's more convient because we can drive our truck in the yard or close to the beds we are working so it saves alot of time even if the insert only holds 5-6 yards. We are doing a 35 yard mulch job this coming week I will have delivered.

Same thing I do less clean up too IMO. A friend puts 22 in his 16 ft trailer. He built 5 foot walls on it. Sure he's "overweight" but it still dumps. He had the axles and tires upgraded as well.

One of the reason I went with a gooseneck. His is bumper pull

Lookin' good man! IDK how you have gotten this far without a real dump truck. I would be lost with both of mine. But to each their own.

A lot of times it's cheaper to have material brought in. Plus tags insurance maintenance on a larger truck can suck. That's why I've alWays had multiple trailers.

But at the same time it's helpful moving your own material.

I get that to an extent. Insurance and tags is cheap for me at least. It's a convenience and cost of doing business that gets passed on. Not to mention treating a regular truck like a dump in many cases shortens its life. Coverage for my F550 and International 4300 is $1800 for the year with a $500 deductible. That's definitely worth it. From what I have heard some states are insane though.

Yep I agree. But on the other end of the spectrum towing around 2 mowers on a 20 ft trailer with a 550 is pissing money away lol. Or taking 6 650s to do one job because someone didn't want to load an auger... I don't know how that company ever turned a profit when I worked there. But they grossed 5 million a year

Just depends on what else you use your trucks for you know?

Totally agree on that.... it just seems that he does a ton of landscaping so it would be justifiable. Obviously he has a good reason for not doing so yet. I get a few things delivered over the season but its always a hassle trying to schedule.

Yes deffinatly is cheaper with the smaller trucks and deliveries, I pay 198 a year registration on my 3500 truck and I can only haul alittle over a ton. With the work we do we are in need of a larger dump truck. I at this point wanted a 14000 pd dump trailor to haul more material and stone etc. That will help us out alittle more and cost alot less than buying a dump. I'm gonna be buying one towards fall for sure. But also if I would buy a dump truck, I don't even would waste my time buying anything under a 5500 or 550, because if I want to work off the tailgate I can use my dump inserts. But for volume and or tonage I rather just jump right into a Ford 650 or something similar so I can haul more volume. But still on the fence on any dump right now. Been taking baby steps for 11 years now, what the heck haha
