Ford LCF

Hey guys, anyone here experienced with a Ford LCF?
My friend has one and he likes it a lot.
Seems to have a higher payload than f450.
Thanks

I was looking at buying one a few years ago right before they were discontinued with a lawn care body. They seemed like nice trucks and were really heavily built (they had a 19,500 GVWR, IIRC). I have heard of problems getting parts though, and they had a few other issues. I wouldn't buy one unless it was super cheap.

Love mine although I had to dump a ton of money into engine repairs
It's a 2006 with only 65,000 miles on it and have already had to dump $13,000 into engine repairs. First the fuel tanks de-lamminated and fowled up the fuel injectors to the tune of $8,000. Totally should have been covered by Ford but they refuse to cover it. They claim that the EPA's change in the fuel standards was the case of the tank de-lammination. Now 2 weeks ago the high pressure oil pump died costing me another $5,000. Another common problem but now the truck is out of warranty. Sucks for me but for some reason I still really enjoy the truck overall. The shop claims that there are no more major common issues to go wrong with the truck but I'll be crossing my fingers anyhow. I wouldn't recommend buying a used one unless the owner has proof that these common problems have been taken care of. Ford and Navistar have recently settled the class action suit against them for the problems with the 6.0 and 6.4 engines but it did not include the 4.5 that is in the LCF. Not sure why not since it basically a 6.0 with two fewer cylinders. The LCF was a great truck that didn't have a chance being that it was introduced in a poor economy and didn't stay around long enough to have the bugs worked out. My eye is now set on the Hino 195 COE. Would have been ordered by now if I didn't have to dump all that cash into the LCF.... Doe's anyone have any experience with the Hino 195?

I just put a turbo and an injector in one today. Pretty easy to work on for the most part.

There is a 94' forsale here locally with a debris dump body on it. I thought about going check it out.

run. i had one, constant problems. ford will give no assistance and it pretty much burnt my relationship with ford. We were constantly overheating to which ford (not the dealer) said it was designed to do that and also they were fine with the fact that the truck had 7 fan belts installed during its 45k mile life with us.

i'm guessing he's talking about the 2000s models... they were smaller and had a 6cly version of the now legendary 6.0 diesel... think it was a 4.6 or something

gotcha
thanks for everyones responses. I am not looking for anything fancy, just something that has a 12-14' dump, can hold weight, and is super reliable. Prefer super cab, crew cab, than reg cab. diesel is preferable.
thanks!
