OBS fords

I've gotta 1995 F350 srw 4wd with the 7.3. Getting horrible mileage. Sometimes as low as 8.

Just curious what some of you other guys are getting. And what you've done to improve.

My 99 f250 7.3 is consistently 12-14 mpg.
4wd as well . I have done routine maintenance only. Seems like you should be higher for sure.

Our 95 250 with 7.3 gets around 11 mpg's. This is loaded with tools and 95 gallon skid tank.

Get a 4" downpipe & 5" exhaust, 6667 WIX Airfilter & keep your foot out of it. I had a 95 F250 4wd with those simple things getting 18-25mpg.

What Stars said above. Also, getting stage one 160cc injectors would help but that is a little bit of money (you probably need injectors anyway if you are only getting 8 mpg and I would go with the bigger injectors instead of the little 90ish cc stock injectors). If you get a 5" exhaust make sure you get a muffler... Straight piped 5" is freaking LOUD. I had one years back and it gave me a headache.

Dixon raises a good point, the loud exhaust... I mean it's cool and all but let me put it to you this way, if you were showing up at my house weekly to mow with some loud exhaust that was stupid loud - I'd consider other companies because it doesn't seem too professional no matter how much you try to tell me it's better for the truck. Also, DO NOT DO A STACK. You have no need too, you will just lose bed space - if you want a "cool" exhaust dump it out before the rear tire. The downpipe and exhaust should run you maybe $300 and about 2-3 hours of your time and the filter should cost 25-35$ and take 5seconds.

I am not really into maitenance. I pull my bobcat or tractor on a gooseneck or move my dump trailer. The truck doesn't do a whole lot of running. I usually show up to a job that morning and leave that afternoon.

I am just trying to save fuel over all.. I've looked at exhaust and have had trouble finding a 4in for less than $450. Do you have a good source?

I'd never do a stack. I've already gotta a transfer tank and toolbox in the bed.

why arent you into maintenance. Its not that hard to change oil and filters out? If you dont change your fuel filter regularly your injectors arent going to like you and your mileage is going to suck which is prob why it does. Alittle maintenance every now and then goes a long way.
