HELP! Procat with Kaw FH721V died

Just stopped dead on me in the middle of mowing. At restart only got solenoid click no start. Checked battery and it was at 8V. Jumped it and checked voltage, it was jumping between 18 and 20V. Max in the KAW manual is 15. I replaced all the fuses, checked wiring harnesses, tested stator (pot .1ohm and 33 VAC, so it looks okay), replaced voltage regulator. Still wont run. Once jumped I get varying voltage from 5-10V now???? Not sure why the regulator is not able to charge. So I charged battery for 1/2 hr and started, same issue. Batt is still low at 10.9V. I am going to replace batt tomorrow. But I do not understand why it is not charging once running.

It will run when connected to car batt, but won't charge on it's own. Could weak batt cause this? Stumped why the unit can not charge and run on it's own.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Like Resto said, replace battery and retest...

However, pay close attention to both of the fuse holders under the seat. On the original style fuse holders you could see the end of the fuses... The new style has a hinged cover that snaps closed over the each fuse.
Either style is prone to have issues with the brass contacts corroding inside of the fuse holder body. That tends to then either start blowing fuses, arcing inside the fuse holder or melting the fuse holder.
I would highly recommend using a dielectric grease in the fuse holders, especially if you replace them and no more than a 20A fuse!

Thanks.
The new batt did the trick. Getting14.2 across the batt at idle and full throttle, so it's charging properly and running properly.
