Estimator

My new estimator quit, so i have to re-hire. This guy worked for us for 6 years. He ran a crew for the past 5 and I had trained him on estimating the past 2 years on the off season before letting him meet customers on his own this spring. He wasn't prepared for the pressure and accountability and decided to move on.

My question is what qualifications do you guys require for your estimator? What work experience, education, sales experience, etc?

Thanks

Sounds like he learned enough to know he could do this on his own and make more $$$ to me. Don't be surprised if you see him with his own crew in the future.

He moved 3 hours away and has a job with one of the largest construction co's in canada. I'm not worried about him starting his own company
