What hose size?

The sprayer I purchased has a 3/4" hose to the gun. Is this a little bit over kill if you are only trying to obtain 1-2 gpm?

I would say way overkill. I can get 2 gallons from a 3/8 hose.

What kind of pump? If it is a centrifugal pump rather than a piston or diaphragm pump, 3/4" hose might be needed to get anything out out the other end. I get 5 GPM from 3/8" hose but that is powered by a D30 operating at full pressure.

I use 3/4" hose to the gun. I'm using a roller pump spraying at 3 gpm.

That is a set up that makes sense. Roller pumps are not made to run at higher pressure than a centrifugal pump. Most of them are good at 100 PSI, not any higher.
