Deductible expense?

Working in the heat like we do, would water/gatorade and ice be a tax deductible expense?

if it's for business use.... I try to deduct everything I can and let the accountant tell me 'no'.

I'd think if you are supplying a crew yes, for personal use I don't think it would hold up if questioned. Lunch isn't deductible either.

if supplying the crew it is. and you are considered a part of the crew while working with them.

Yes I deduct water every year as I buy several cases of bottled water each week. Ice is damn expensive as well.

We go through about 6 cases of water per week during the summer. I buy the water and crackers from Sam's Club and have always been able to deduct them. You'd be surprised what you can deduct as long as you can prove it. Keep all your receipts and checkbook/credit card statements. We use Quickbooks and that makes it easy on the accountant.

One thing my accountant told me. Keep all your work related stuff on a separate receipt (purchase separately). The govt would throw a fit if they see water for work on a receipt beside a DVD for the kids.
