I work with him but he lives too far for me to come to his house just for ideas. Its almost 50 miles. I told him it would cost for my drive.

That slope needs a nice rock wall or SRW built in front of it. But that's not going to be cheap.

Personally, I always walk away from a job if the person cannot afford to do it right. I'm not going to do something that I know isn't the right thing to do, just so someone else can save money.

Friend or not, I wouldn't take on that job. Just because he isn't willing to invest into it properly. People who are looking for the cheapest possible option can go work with one of my sketchy competitors. Plenty of them out there who would do something cheap there. But I'm not putting my name on that , unless we can do it right.

Yes that's what I told him. I gave him ideas and told him that I wont take the job unless I can do what will look good and last.
