flannel caterpillar

Has anyone ever been stung by a flannel caterpillar? I leaned against a tree yesterday and one lit me up and my arm and chest is very swollen.

I got one in the palm a week or so ago. Picked up a hose to water some plants and felt the sting, assumed it was a burr on the metal handle until it got worse. Funny thing is I think they are cute so I brought some home a few years ago. Fortunately I don't react much to stings, bites and the like. Palm was sore for 2 days, but no swelling.
