Lightning Strike on a Putting Green

I've only seen this happen twice in 25 year's. One time was on a bermuda tee box and it looked just like this picture. The other time it hit a concrete cart path and made a 1" hole, but it was right above a bunch of wire's going to a irrigation controller. It melted all the wire's together and set the controller on fire.
