Best time for soil test

Is there a best time to do a soil test for cool season turf? I've always felt it didn't matter as long as it's during the growing season.

Before you write a proposal, give a price, and order materials. Then sometimes again the following season to see if your work has things headed in the expected direction.

Generally, anytime is fine but I wait at least a month after applying any fertilizer that contains more than N alone.

Soon as you can.
However. I found that soil tests were difficult in the winter. I don't weigh much--and I cannot penetrate frozen soil.
Sometimes deep snow will have unfrozen ground beneath it. Sometimes soil near the house will have thawed enough for a sample to be taken.
