rc26 vs rc 28? noob who doesnt know. :-)

im a newb to owning Hustler stuff & have some conflicting info...

my manual says my Super Z ATZ has white RC28 wheel motors on it....

but when i get a part number to come up it gives RC26CCW in a lot of places...

are these motors the same?

got this to climb my hills & im pretty sure its got the wrong wheel motors on it...

because it runs about 15 MPH & it wont climb the hill with the deck running..

thought it was supposed to run about 9MPH & climb like a goat?

anybody got some info for me?

thanks!

It didn't get lost. I found that the manuals say RC28 also. That machine is 7 years old and I wanted to check with the factory for back up. Unlike us they don't work on the weekends. You sent it Friday at 5:45 and everything was shut down.

There was a miss print by part smart on those wheel motors. You have RC 26's in your unit, which are HT. When you push your sticks forward at the base of the hill it draws power right before the hill requires more torque. Be sure your engine is running at 3600 , blades sharp, clean filters, length of grass bunch of reasons for issues. Climbing a hill I would back off the sticks a bit.
If you have a lot of hours on the machine it wont be running like a new one. Age does slow all of us down.

Brian,

first i want to thank you for checking into this.. so THANK YOU!

next want to ask if my machine then takes 2 of the CCW RC26's ? or is it the mix set? my manuals and the online ones all say that RC28 thing..

i'll pull the numbers off the motors on it and see if maybe someone changed them.

you've got my bizness if we need to change motors.

as you mentioned:

machine has just over 1,ooo hrs on it, so gave it a complete tune up...

plugs
both air filters
oil & filter
hydraulic & filter
Drive belt
deck belt
greased all zerks
blades look pretty good

went and did a pretty good cleaning on the whole machine. its actually really a nice looking/running machine & the cut on the grass was miles above what i had before.

will post back when i actually have those numbers for you.

thanks

I completely forgot about this thread until Puppy reminded me. Here's what I got from the guys with that paper hanging on their walls.

We talked to engineering, the 418 was the pump we used on the 03 production and after, there might have been other changes as we went but the 408 was started in about 10 so likely it was replaced in 10 or later. The numbers are spec numbers much like our engine spec numbers.

HMW,

big thanx to you & Puppy for all your help on my toy.

ive been going over this thing in every way..... Got spare wheel motors & going to get phmps so that i change it all at the same time when something goes out.

i have a 418 pump & a 408 pump... Obviously someone changed 1 of them.

interestingly enough it also has more power on 1 side...

but this thing is awesome & the new kawi engine just made a BEAST out of it. :-)

Im very happy with the machine & the fun/tinkering jts gi ing me.
