i am learning the same thing here, but not from my own installs......i fix and repair all the time where they used class 200 pvc above ground......don't last so long that way

I agree copper or brass or (shudder) galvy, above ground. That said, wrap your above ground PVC (SCH 80 or 40 of course) with pipe wrap at 40 mil and it will be fine.
