IHI 45J Digger wont start

IHI45J digger wont start, usually very reliable starting at first crank over. Left it standing for a couple of months - and now wont fire up. 4 cylinder diesel. Fuel appears OK, fuel hand pump works, no fuel at the injectors when turning over. After a number of start attempts it may fire up and then shut down again. Possibly the fuel shut off solenoid but not sure how to check this. I had a diesel John Deere gator with a similar problem - found it to be a relay to the solenoid shut off. Not sure if this is possibly6 the same.

I can confirm it is either the solenoid or a relay that powers it. It starts fine without the solenoid removed.
