Hello LawnSite pros,

This has been a wonderful resource for a homeowner with two properties that just let both of his lawn services go. In both cases, as some of you pros can appreciate, both lawn services wanted to tell me how and when I was going to get my lawns cut. After 4 years with one service who over-expanded with some mediocre help and a neighbor that was cutting my other property, I decided that I needed to take control of my own lawns.

I did a bunch of homework and liberally used this website and finally decided to "go for broke" so to speak and bought brand new equipment consisting of a left over 2012 John Deere Z930a 60" MOD ZTR, 6x12 heavy duty trailer, Stihl br600, and Stihl combo edger/weedwacker. I have about 6.5 acres between my two properties to keep maintained so decided that you pros know a heck of a lot more about cutting lawns than I likely ever will and I went with many of your recommended pieces of equipment.

One of the things I am learning is that mowing, edging, weedwacking and blowing are as much art as they are work and I am enjoying the fairly steep learning curve. I hope in the months to come to learn more about how to efficiently utilize the tools I have purchased.

I can say that I feel a heck of a lot better about regaining control of my own destiny and not relying on folks that made excuses or simply did not come through when they were suppose to. My professional lawn service owner was terrific but he ended up sending a B- team and I was used to the A team. Bad move on his part as my wife kept buzzing in my ear about how late and sometimes sloppy the service had become. Enough was enough and after about 2 seasons of BS, I had had enough.

I can't wait to learn more about the "art" and efficiency of lawn care from you professionals so that my tasks will be manageable as well as fun. Bob
