Well it is crab grass... It's not supposed to look good. My icd deck on my 3100 blows through it fine for the short period it's around. Which is about a month. We have nice spring grass growth right now, about to start to go dormant though. The ice deck is the best deck there is right now for all conditions. Scag is almost the same but with out suspension it makes a difference in cut so ferris gets the nod.

Right the crabgrass never cuts too well but it's worse than my pos bushhog has ever done even. I'll try the striping kit Monday. Considering it's a rubber friction flap rather than a roller, I could see how it may be pulling up some stuff like crabgrass rather than rolling it over like a true stripe kit

I have the same problem w my scag. Started happening mid season, it's been annoying me the past couple months. I've tried all that's been mentioned, except for lower 1/2" in front to accomadate me sitting on it. I'm going try that too!

Are you cutting weekly, bi-weekly, 10 days? How often do you sharpen your blades?

I'm assuming you're mulching or side discharging?

Side discharge, always sharp, I even make sure to keep the angle around 30 degrees, with good corners and a perpendicular blade length. Not bent either, these are like New blades anyways

All right. Run the factory blades then run the test. Also are you cutting in wet conditions? Gators do not work on this deck. If you could take a pic and post it I could take a look. Also check the deck belt spring tensioner it should be 6.5 inches.

Pitch the deck 1/4" higher in the rear. Run factory iCD blades and check your engine RPM. By any chance is the deck loading up with cut grass? PS leave the strip kit off for now.

RPM is good. I'll be dropping the deck and checking the spring next week and I'll let you all know, thanks for the help so far!
