equipment storage

hey guys, got a quick question: i currently have a 36'' scag wb and am getting ready to buy a 52'' exmark turf tracer. both of which will fit just fine on my 6.4X12 trailer...however, the mowers will not fit as comfortably in my parent's garage. (i'm a college student who mows 30 yards per week, so i don't have the time or money at the moment to have a dedicated shop) There are many 24hr storage facilities in my area that i would feel comfortable locking my mowers in when the mowers aren't in use. My question is: what size unit would give me enough room to just put my mowers in? 5x10? 5x15? 10x10? if anybody could give me an idea, it would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Measure how big each mower is and that should answer your question.

Winter storage or everyday storage ?
You may be better off getting an enclosed and finding an area to store it (yard in town you pay to store it in, or a close town)

Where are you storing the trailer? Is it not in your parent's garage?

It would be for everyday storage. I keep my trailer outside in the side yard tucked away and locked up. I'd love to have an enclosed trailer, but I do too much landscaping to justify owning one at the moment.

Perhaps a portable carport from harbor freight or something?

Ok if you're going to put the mowers in a storage unit and still keep the trailer at your parents you're going to put yourself thru a lot of extra work everyday. Just get a 10x16 (10x15 probably won't quite be big enough) unit and store the trailer with the mowers (and trimmer and blower) on it in the storage unit.

If you're just looking to store just the mowers a 5x10 is probably big enough but you'll want to measure the actual door opening width; the 52" might not fit thru.

why not just throw a tarp over the mowers after parking trailer next to garage ? be careful if do of the mufflers because hot mufflers burn tarps . ide build a lite frame out of 2x2 , say a rectangle same width n length of trailer with legs in the four corners , that the tarp covers over . that'll look decent plus keep weather out and camoflauge trailer contents . bungee cord the tarp down to trailer

Shelter Logic Storage Shelters and Instant Garages.
Granted, you need some land to set these up but smaller units can fit near the house as well.
Only drawback is every 5-10 years the tarp covers have to be replaced (and there is little aftermarket, you buy from Shelter Logic).

Storage units are a pain in the ass, if you have the space to store the trailer you have the space for a shelter unit.
