new guy learns how to make money

I received a call from an older lady maybe in her 60's somewhere. I just happened to down the street at an appointment so drove and gave her a verbal estimate. She wanted a 12 month payment which is fine by me. She about fell over when I was 15,000 cheaper than the first guy per year. Now this is a postage stamp size lawn. About 5 min of mowing about 10 on the trimmer and a couple blowing off and maybe about 8 hours between spring and fall clean ups and 10 or so visits for snow. Man if he could get 5 customers that's all he would need to make a hell of a living. And yes she had shown me his chicken scratch on an envelope as an estimate

He either didn't want the account, so just threw out a totally ridiculous figure, or unintentionally added another zero or two, which makes much more sense.
