Toro grandstand stiff controls

So I looked at a 2010 grandstand today and the only thing stopping me from buying it was the controls seemed very stiff and the machine seemed to slow, the owner said it has always been that way since new. Once I got home I did some research and found very little information but what I did find was other grandstand owners having the speed control lever removed which solved the issue so I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered similar issues and how much the speed control lever was to be replaced or if it was a recall. Thanks.

I had this on my 09 grandstand when I owned it. never really noticed it until I took it in for an unrelated issue and the dealer said they shouldn't be that stiff.

they fixed it free of charge. was some update that toro came out with and was offered free of charge. they redid the whole hydro system and removed the speed control altogether.

after that the controls where perfect and the mower actually moved quicker.

Don't let the issue scare you. It's not a quick fix, the update takes about 5-6 hours, but then it works just fine. Take it to an authorized Toro service center/dealer.

Ya it kinda scared me at first but I talked to my local dealer and he said he can do the update free of charge
