question on what to purchase

dont know if i should get a dump truck or a new mower

currently operating with a dodge pickup, 16 ft trailer, a 52 inch lesco walk behind, a 52 inch stander and a 48 inch lesco walk behind.

all mowers were purchased from craigslist 4 years ago and each of them have its own problems, but have been getting the job done for now

the truck is a work horse, no major problems, but we were looking into getting a dump truck..just dont know which direction to go in.

any info is appreciated

Get a dump truck! Find a nice used one for 8-10k and repair your mowers. When you have a dump truck , landscaping will replace a need for a new mower. If the mowers are working then why replace unless your putting a lot of hours each year on them. Keep your dodge as the tow rig and use the dump as a landscape and leaf clean up or tow the setup with the dump...... Me personally, I would get a 3500 and put a nice stainless steel dump insert. That way you won't be paying the commercial plates for a dump truck which kill you every year, and insurance is higher

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi. Was in need of a dump truck too. Ended up buying a 12ft dump trailer. Something to consider. I'm looking for the same set-up for another crew.

I'm in the same predicament and I think I'm leaning towards a dump truck. My mowers run good and a dump truck you make me more efficient especially doing clean ups.

my issue is that its once breakdown after another with my mowers..the 52 lesco has a minor oil leak, the stander has some electrical issues and the 48 lesco is really my backup with no real issues.

i am leaning towards a 52 inch zero turn, keeping the 48 lesco and 52 inch lesco as a backup

but than after sucking a huge pile of leaves I lean towards a dump truck

Some thoughts

The first thing I would do with any purchase is determine where my money comes from. It's true a dumptruck will make you much more efficient. I'm guessing the bulk of your money is made in mowing grass. I would buy the new mower. I learned the hard way. I thought quantity was the answer when it came to equipment. I was wrong. I bought my first brand new mower this year. I went back two months later and bought a brand new stander. I now no longer turn wrenches on junk. I will be trading my mowers in when the warranty runs out. I will never own a primary mower again out of warranty. I do have a one ton dumptruck that I use allot doing mulch and hauling trash. Just remember every piece of equipment you add with a motor will eventually break down. I would grow in both directions and you have the right idea in mind. But I would spend the bulk of my money where it is made.
