tires on a 2500

Just picked up a used 03 2500 4x4. Will be a crew truck may add a plow. What tires have you been running and like has smaller tires now will probably go a bit bigger.

We us the Toyo ht open country we get about 50k out of them on a 350 good traction never had problems. I don't care for the all terrains we would only get about 25 to 30k out of them

I run 265/75/16 Hankook Dynapros on my 3/4 ton. I think they're supposed to be a 45000 mile tire.

Firestone Transforce AT. They're a hard compound tire (commercial-type), will take abuse, last a long time, have a solid shoulder rib that is great for resisting wear in turning conditions. You'll sacrifice some wet weather traction with the harder compound, but, gain a lot with durability and longevity. Not to mention, Firestone dealers are all over the place, should you have an issue.

I have had bad luck plowing snow with firestones. last month my plow truck slid into a pole because I was on ice and slick snow on a sloped parking lot.

Can you say, with certainty, that will happen with all Firestones?

Can you say, with certainty, that will not happen with any other tire?

I'm just being reasonable, here.

Almost all our municipal trucks are running Transforce ATs and all have plows on them. I have a couple friends running them on their stuff and haven't heard any negatives. In fact, my neighbor just put them on his van (scaled at 7700lbs) and his last comment was "Man, those tires dig through the snow.". His garage and drive are off an alley, which doesn't get plowed.

I guess, with anything, your results may vary.
