Grimmer Schmidt 185DR compressor/john deere for blow outs

I just recently bought a used Grimmer Schmidt air compressor, The guy I bought it from let it run in front of me and it looks to be in great shape. I got it home and I really don't know how to run it, considering its a diesel engine and I dont want to mess it up. It was last serviced in September. So I was hoping someone could give me some proper starting up instructions and maybe a way to get a hold of a manual.

Worst compressor ever..

You name it I can tell you I've gone through the same problems with that grimmer sch!t....Worst compressor ever.Worst part is the company is out of business..it will leak compressor oil, its leaked anti freeze on me in the past, engine oil...

My best piece of advice is let that baby cool down 10 mins unloaded before turning it off...

Haha, well I certainly didn't want to hear that but better now then never. I just got a really good deal on it. So I'm having problems getting it started, I flip the on button and press the start button but it just turns over it never really starts.

did you prime the diesel?

follow the fuel lines if your standing at the controls with the hood open if your really tall your right hand could reach almost 45 degrees in about 2-3 feet...black button looking think...also check your sight glass make sure you have compressor oil.

My biggest problem is I don't know the parts of the engine or where things are located, I looked at the PDFs that I thought were for my compressor and some of them were only part manuals. So would the primer be like a switch? Or a plastic globe out of sight? And since it's a diesel do I need to let it warm up somehow before I start it?. Thanks for answering any information helps

on the cummins it was a pyrmid kind of plunger looking thing up high close to the hood.

Yea, I think the switch I'm talking about may be the prime but I don't know for sure. It could be a choke for all I know.

there was no choke in the cummis 185.
post a pic of where you think the primer is brah.

it's a diesel, sounds exactly like you aren't warming up the glow plugs…every diesel compressor that i have ever used you had to turn the key to the left, hold it for about 15 seconds, then turn it to the right and let it turn over…once it get's going just let it go, but if it has a hard time getting going, open the air outlets a little to rev up the RPM's, let it work itself warm in other words…

with all that said, those are typically cooler starting conditions

ALSO…some compressors don't start very well when still pressurized from the previous use…open the air outlets to release the pressure
