Anyone use 1 man crews?

Just curious if anyone opts to run multiple 1 man crews instead of putting 2 or more guys in a truck.

A company in my areas, with 4-5 maintenance crews has done 1 man crews all year. I was skeptical but he says it's working for them. 2 men can do 15 lawns and 1 can do 12...

More initial startup cost, far increased per hour revenue.

I found out with my style of business I make way more money with one man crews than 2. I've only seen 2 companies do this though.

Ditto on that.

I don't see how you could make any money with a one man crew. Owner and 1 helper is probably ok

Its because you save money by not paying 2 people to sit in the truck and travel from place to place. I can have 3-4 hrs of drive time in a day. That's paying 2 people to sit. I charge people through the nose to travel though. For me 2 people can get a 12 hr route done in 8-9 hrs or they can do 2 12 hr routes with one man crews.

Its definitely not the norm. I have never seen it done here. I think its just human nature to do crews, or people just like the professional look of it. But my numbers show expenses going up $140 a day, and gross going up $250 a day so an extra hundred a day utilizing the same setup you would already have (assuming you have a 2nd truck). And that is still towing with 10mpg 3/4 ton gassers and 5500 diesels.
