what's going on?

What are you guys up to in the winter? Here in Maryland we are expecting the first snow/ice tonight but probably not enough to plow. Currently sitting at my Christmas tree stand selling Christmas trees! Can't wait til they all sell! Since it local people ask about leaves and grass cutting so it's a win win.

Best time to drum up business for next year

My shop is not big enough to put big trucks in so I am taking advantage of this warm weather to clean them up and get them ready for next year. I am doing all the work I can outside right now to get ready for next year. One thing that has always worked really well for me is to do the bulk of my marketing and door to door beating my feet this time of year. Allot of times if a customer is unhappy with their current landscaper, it is fresh on their mind still. I will not place a bid unless they are unhappy with their current landscaper. Too much underbidding in this industry already. I really like the Christmas tree idea allot. That would be worth it to me if I just broke even. Just to be able to get out and meet potential customers.

What is going on? Rain! Day after day. Night after night. Steady rain since the week of Thanksgiving. May rarely stop during the day, but it is back at night. Northerners are getting snow in ice while we stay on the warmer side of the Jet Stream. Strange weather pattern

Snow may delay my final weekly clean up visits scheduled for this week. Maybe I will have to finish them up on Sunday.

Though the forecast of 3 to 6 inches may get me a few driveways from my regular snow customers because this snow will not melt away fast with the low temps forecasted Wednesday through Friday.

Looking like snow may move fall clean-ups all the way to next year! So right now getting organized and setting up for snow plowing and getting my advertisements ready to send out next month for lawn care.

We have had 5 plowable events here already this month so I've been busy plowing, salting, shoveling and cleaning up parking lots. Haven't got much sleep the last few days.

Holiday Lighting is actually a very good money maker. I think it beats snowplowing and the headaches that come with it. Plus you meet new prospects for your in season work.
