Push/walk behind blowers which is best?

Hello everyone,

I've been considering adding a push/walk behind blower to our fleet to help get the leaves to move once the backpack blowers get to the point that they can't move the piles. We've had the chance to work with another company who had a big 13HP little wonder and on all the properties we worked on that day the push/walk behind blower sped it all up a ton.

I've heard that bigger is always better if you can afford it since you can always throttle it down.

As far as brands which model/brand would you recommend? Below I've listed the brands I know of.

-Billy goat
-Little Wonder
-Giant-Vac (scags new company)

Also are the push/walk behind blowers worth it to you? I know they're not cheap.

They're worth every penny. As far as pushing, they get very heavy. I have a little wonder self propelled. No way I'd ever buy a push, but we have a lot of hills/uneven ground.

I should have added, rear self propel is very convenient.

With the season coming to an end, now is the time to start looking to save money on leftovers, floor models, etc...

Unless I have to have it in season, I buy everything in the offseason. Lots of great deals to be had when there's snow on the ground and sales are slow.

I have a 13hp billy goat. It lighter than the little wonder and easier to push. I've used both and prefer the billy goat, hands down.

We use the back packs to funnel the leaves to the walk behind. Makes life much easier

8lbs difference. I prefer metal to plastic. The Little Wonder is also easier/safer to transport with the tie down mounts on the machine. Little Wonder has an optional caster wheel kit that is extremely handy with maneuverability. Not sure if Billy Goat offers one or not.

Other than that, sames specs I believe.

Ya or you could just get the trailer mount kit for the billy goat and never have to tie it down. Step on the lever and its free.

There have been lots of complaint s about the little wonder. Use the search feature.

Depending on what's loaded on the trailer, it doesn't go in the same spot all the time. Sometimes it goes in a different trailer or a truck. Certainly not worth spending $100+ on 1 mount much less multiples if I don't have to. 1 good fall and that plastic is cracked. I did research it before I bought it. Its why I bought it instead of the BG. Also, I went with self propelled and caster wheel. BG doesn't have reverse and didn't see a caster wheel option. Been running Little Wonder products for years. Run fabulous, hold their value, IMO built better, and a few dents on steel is a whole lot better than a crack in plastic, no matter how tough Force says the plastic is.

Billy goat 18 horse self propelled. Love them!
We previously ran the Lesco 18 hydro models which were great but tough on parts.
Also ran a little wonder for a short while.
We prefer the billy goat force.

May I ask why? Were they both the 18hp Vanguard? Does BG make rear propel now? Caster wheel? When I bought, the motors were the same but BG had no rear propel and no tie down. Didnt check caster wheel on the 18.

It looks like the Giant-Vac has a higher CFM rating than the Little Wonder and Billy Goat. I asked my dealer which they prefer and they said the little wonder due to the metal construction but said they want to sell the Giant-Vac but they don't sell scag mowers so they can't.
