Winterizing: blow once or twice?

How many times do you guys run through the system blowing out zones

I have always done 2 passes but I'm starting to think its a waste of time.

Thoughts?

I quit when a fine mist was coming out; you don't need to blow the sucker dry!

I did that on my first winterize; nothing like the smell of melted plastic in the morning.

for the average 6-10 zone service account with a 100+ cfm compressor you will get most of the air out in the first 30 seconds..Going through the second time, is a waste of fuel, hours on compressor, compressor oil, your time, clients time, and as stated could cause damage...

By old boss used to run rotors dry for 5 mins or more....boy was he wrong...but then again by the end of the day he was really trashed and to him that 5 mins per zone was just more time to waste and more buts to smoke.
No wonder why he used to go through so many febco repair kits.

Now if you were using a truckmount dinky, different rules apply. Lather, rinse, and repeat.
