Any of you ever divorce and keep your comp.

I was wondering if any of you guys have divorced your wife and kept your company?
My company is in my wife's name, am I screwed? We have only had this business for three years so there is not a lot at stake beside some equipment. She really has no part in it other than I put it her name. I feel that I may seek a divorce in the future but want to keep building my business up. I also have another full time job but I like this better. I don't want to lose this, she would not do any thing with it, but you never know how they will react when you tell them you want a divorce. I was wanting to buy another new mower this spring ( 2010 ), should I put it some one else name and not the company just in case.

Dont let her know , but start a new company that sounds a real lot like the name ya use now. Slowly fade out the other company so by the time ya get divorced its worthless. And the # 1 thing, make sure she never see,s your thread.

Easy just tell your wife you want to incorporate so people can't sue you as easy. Issue all the share to yourself. Talk to a Lawyer!

That's means you own it ... however, since the sole proprietorship was started while you're married she has a claim to the assets (i.e.-50 %) if divorce occurs !!

No, not at all, nor she.
Its just like this.......She is getting so crazy and I am just tired of it. She jealous of the relationship that I have with my daughter and there for always complains about her and her kids are always in trouble and I think it bothers her that mine has not been in any kind of trouble, although both hers and mine have their own faults but you know its bad when I can count about eight pix of each of her two kids in the living room and my daughter only has one. Its that freaking stupid....It's like that all over the house.

Sorry to vent, but you guys are all I have to vent too...
