Best small plate tamper?

I have a big ole wacker with a honda gx160 motor that seems to be on its way out again. I had one of these motors on my old mixer and they seem to be great for 3/5 years then crap out. The whole thing is pretty worn out so im looking to replace it.
Im looking to dump it on craigslist and pick up something new, is wacker still where its at? From what ive seen in the power equip places the trend is towards smaller plates, water tanks, wheel kits, do i need that stuff? I need one that one angry guy can lift by himself.
Let me know what youve got and where you get em

I don't need to see it.

Simple machines, very little to them.

We have a tamper that I bought in 1998.

Replace the engine.

Replace the rubber insulators (I think I have a thread here about that)

Replace the belts

And put oil in the vibrator.

And you'll have a great machine.

Let someone else subsidize your equipment sale rep's Christmas.....

Your initial post you stated why you think you need a new tamper. Since you posted said reasons, I'm responding that based on your reasons you are wasting money. I'm gonna start calling you Zedo

Wacker makes a fine small machine. you just have to tamp more often in smaller lifts.

In terms of a "small tamper" there are two main components - the engine and the vibrator. And that's it! So really, one tamper can last a lifetime as the components can be replaced.

Wanna buy new? Not sure which brand to buy? Whether its a tamper, car, chain saw, generator, or a motorcycle - I always recommend to buy whatever brand will have parts and service available to your geographic location.
