SAP with tablets?

Does anyone that uses Service Autopilot use the mobile system with tablets? Verizon has $100 off tablets till end of the year and I was thinking about picking up 4 of them for my crews. The monthly fee is only $10 to add them to my business plan.

Just wondering how it works out for you?

I know they are suppose to have a new mobile system soon they say.

Yes we use them.
The 10 dollar a month plan is more then adequate.
They (SA) are coming out with an app supposedly February.
On the last update, they made it so that when the crew logs any notes to a customer it is attached to their file.

Nice, I have heard the mobile system has had problems in the past but I am hoping for good results.

Have you had any problems with it?

Do you rely totally on the mobile system when sending out crews? I am just imagining having a crew not being able to access the route list and not knowing where to go next?

How did the crews respond to them?

They leave the shop with no paper.
Occasionally they will loose connection (Internet) it stops working but restarting their browser and log in and good to go. It's nice having start and stop times and any notes in the office as the day goes. You can see if they get bogged down somewhere.
In the event the mobile went down after they left you could email them a PDF to the tablet of the days route(never had to though)

We actually just went backwards with SAP. We are using the paper route sheets now since the mobile version is so "glitchy". Fingers crossed for the mobile App. Keep us posted if you like the tablets. We have thought about using them as well.

Well thats not good news!! crap! I have high hopes for this mobile app too but who knows if it will even be out by spring?

Have you guys heard anything else about new releases? He mentioned a new estimating system but I would really like more details about what it will doas I am also mildly considering changing to Real Green.

And the marketing system has been talked about for a while but I have heard nothing more on that lately?

One of the reasons we went backwards was because we don't have a tablet or smart phone to dedicate to the trucks. I can't keep asking the crew to use the data on their phones, especially now that the newness has worn off. We are trying the paper for a month, and will decide on purchasing a tablet then. They do have some basic marketing templates for email, but we havebt used them yet.

You can easily let an employee use there smart phone the data used is minimal. Our tablets are on 250mb plans.
Buy them lunch or give them a few bucks extra.

I agree jc1, but they are starting to grumble. I guess it's a perception of cost for them. But I also have to count on them to pay their cell phone bill. I would like to go back paperless at this point, but I'm giving it the full month of trials. I'm already getting better info on the yards they are doing since it's easy to jot down notes.
