Stressed about which ZTM to buy?

Been looking to purchase ZTM for no more than $7500 ideally. Really struggling with which to buy.

I prefer something no larger than 54' deck.

I've also toyed with going diesel since I have blown 3 motors in my lazer. I do have to cut some pretty tall grass on a regular basis.

PLEASE tell me what you think, I welcome all input as I do need a new mower ASAP.

Thanks all!

You will have to double your price for a diesel. I don't know of any that come with that small of a deck. If you are cutting tall stuff I dont think you need a exmark. Sounds like a scag would be better suited for you. It doesn't process the grass as much as a exmark would. My vote for you would be a the biggest hp a tiger cat comes in. Ball park 8k. Good luck.

Scag Tiger Cat or Hustler X-one, $8,500 for 60" mowers. Don't know what the 52" cost but Diesel is way out of your price range.

If you've really priced out new machines you would know that a diesel is out of price. Unless you were going used which may be why all of your machines engines blew up. Because they weren't cared for by the previous owner.

Agreed with Cowboys, they are my two suggestions. Both of thoses mowers have great features, different to each others though...scag has the reputation for cut, Hustler for ride and it has the integrated break, and of the two the better hydro system...I think.

You can get a new Kubota ZD221 u can get for around $9500 with 54" cut. Buy use with 100hr for the $7500 u want to spend .

I love Kubota tractors, but I have heard many stories on Lawn Site and other places where Kubota mowers have hefty expenses occurring way too early. I can't be specific since I read all of those posts last year when I joined LS.

MRCo. I believe they actually have the same hydros but it's been six months since I bought my X-one. But between Hustler, Scag and Exmark, one of them does have a slightly larger hydro system but not much.

I have 4 Kubota diesels two ZTM and two tractors ranging in hr from 25 to 900 have not had to spend money but for routine maintenance so far but that could always change . I have had the ZD221 for awhile now have 350 hr so far just had to buy blades once.

Ah, my bad, it's a Parker wheel motor either way...though Scag don't tell you what one is on it without you doing a ton of legwork.

Good input fellas. Thanks. I have found several diesel ZTM in the $7500 price range, used of course, but usually 5-10 yrs old and 1500 plus hours.

Part of my problem is as soon as I get convinced I found the right mower, I then read bad reviews and so on…

I do like the Hustler idea, not sure on the Scag though.
