I won't talk about what I'm doing now and planning for marketing on a public forum. I will talk about what I have done. but not what I am doing or about to do.

It's a small world out there. go right on ahead if you want.

I am with you.. I'll talk about just about anything else... But advertising and new ideas I am not very willing to share. I don't want competitors in my area getting ahead. The ones I am friends with, I'll speak to on a limited level but that's because we are all in different areas and levels of business. There are some guys in my area that I don't get along with..

I'm in DVS's extended area lol. But I don't do anything like he does.

I don't have any problem talking to friends about advertising or business. If you screw a friend over karma will catch up to you.

I never considered any of this stuff top secret, advertise in the spring, no brainer. 6" base, inch of sand, no brainer. If your competition cant figure this stuff out(or need to read it on the internet) they arent on your level anyway

No need to advertise, just word of mouth good enough and maybe a website to keep the internet prowlers happy.

You're not quite correct about advertising. Some advertising IS A BRAINER. I've spent the last two weeks learning some cool stuff. Stuff I don't want guys in my area knowing. I have a living to make, it's all about me.

I don't quite agree.

I've talked about business with other contractors and they've turned around and stabbed me in the back.

I'm a big believer in Karma. trust me. But that does not help me with my cash flow in the mean time.

Therefore, I draw the line. Much easier.

One thing my old man taught me - "everyone is always nice until it comes to money".

Wanna hear a funny story?

In 2010 I moved out of a shop I rented for the biz. It was too far away, and I found a much cheaper solution.

I had hundreds of square feet of left over pavers at this shop. I could not leave them there. It would have cost me alotta money to load them and bring them to my place, so I put them on Craigslist for free.

This guy calls me and says he wants them. Says he wants to do some work at his house. If memory serves me correctly he told me he lived in a town house! LOL so I knew something wasn't right, how could he use all those pavers and block at a freakin townhouse!!!

As he and I talked, I found out he worked for a Hardscape competitor and that his boss wanted the pavers for his jobs. His boss didn't want to call me so he had his employee call me and say he wanted them!

Now here is the funny part!! The owner of that company DOES post here in THIS FORUM once in a while! But until now, he didn't know that I knew all along that he came and got my left over pavers! LOL

And when all that went on, the employee was also telling some interesting stuff about his boss and the company, and had asked me for a job.

It's a small world
