It will be for my personal lawn this year. I'm starting to cut with a reel mower this year and I talked to a guy the other day that said he uses it his bermuda and it helps with keeping the Bermuda in check while cutting at 7/8". He said it will thicken the grass up to. I just want to know general info on it and what product/chemical should I be looking for? I have a small property and will be spraying with a backpack sprayer since it's so small

Without getting too technical, basically what a growth regulator does is Limit vertilcal growth and gives more energy to horizontal growth ie. thicking of the grass. I use it on my lawn and several customers' lawns. I can go about 4 weeks without mowing, however, I usually mow every week just to put fresh lines in the grass.
Like I said, I use Primo Maxx. It costs me $283 per gallon. It does not take a lot of chemical to work. Hybrids take less than common bermudas. Hybrids are like 1/4 oz per 1000sq ft. and I personally use only 1/2oz per k on my commons.

Just be sure your backpack is:
Calibrated correctly
Using a fan tip with complete coverage

I'd suggest just trying to buy some off of your friend that you talked to. Or, buy a jug of it and on a small lawn, use it for the next 12-15 years.lol.

I've never used GR but from what I understand it's important that it be applied very uniformly. Might be hard to do with a regular backpack. At least it would be for me.
