New Rams

Anybody driving any of the new rams out there, preferably heavy duty with the cummins or the new hemi with mpg reports? I used to hate the look of Rams but now I like them, although Ford still looks the best IMO

I drive a '12 ram 1500 daily with the hemi. Its got over 13,000 miles on it now and I love it. Its so much fun to drive granted that its a single cab short bed. I get about 13-15mpg depending how my mood is on that given day in town and then highway I would say about 21-22mpg. They are good trucks its the second one I've had my other one was a '10 and it was just as good.

those are some mpg's for highway, how does the ECO work? Just not use all the cylinders at freeway speed when not towing?

At highway speeds it only runs on 4 or 6 cylinders. Cant remember which.

when you are at less than 20% throttle or at cruising speed the engine will cut to 4 cyl. thus you save in fuel useage. you must have the ECO mode turned on to have this option work and not be in manual mode...some also say the ECO mode light shows up to tell you you are driving with economy in mind no hard on the gas to accelerate, stomp on the gas let off back on the gas etc etc..and this does not mean you are in the 4cyl mode at this point

I don't have a new ram but I am all about ram. If your wanting a true heavy duty hemi could wait a while. They are coming out with a 6.4L hemi that's suppose to be matching the 6.7cummins power numbers, optional in the 2500 and standard in 3500 on up.

I believe 6.4 hemi is already out for the new late models of 2013 and 2014, still hard to believe a gas engine will be able to tow as much as a diesel when compared equally

they might be out already, they had said late third quarter of the year but last time I was at the dealer they didn't have prices on the new 1500 diesel yet. Im really curious to see how it compares to a diesel, I need a new gas truck.
