gas reciept

Lately my local gas station...race track, sunoco ect have it where I have to go into store to get my gas receipts. Either it jams or it is out of paper. What a pain to go into busy store to get a receipt. It happened 3 times this week alone. Anyone else running into this? My brother in law has had this happen to him and he just drives away. He gets mad and does not go in to get his receipt. My brother in-law writes his gas of because he owns a large steel company. Its crazy they cant have the working correctly

I've been dealing with this alot lately. It is rather annoying and to make it worse the gas stations around here have been giving me 8 1/2 by 11 sheet print outs. Doesn't really fit in my "receipt envelope" without folding. I haven't figured out if they are just lazy or trying to save money. Either way, pain or not I'll never not get a receipt. Gotta keep that paper trail for Uncle Sam.

I keep a log book in the truck and write the price, gallons and miles down anyway. Then I make a note saying no reciept and go on.

I don't post often, but read the posts here most every day. My though on going inside to get our fuel receipt is that this causes us to come inside the store and we might purchase other items, instead of just driving away with only a tank full of gasoline. I won't do this very often, because I am usually too busy to be bothered with this kind of nuisance. I am not saying their printers don't occasionally run out of paper, but it shouldn't be a common problem with any one refueling station. Just my two cents worth.

I asked my local RaceTrac manager about it and believe it or not there is a very good reason. The keys to open the pumps are now mostly the non copiable type. There is one set and the manger keeps them. Reason being, employess were making copies and selling them to the crooks that put those credit card skimmers inside. If it means more security for our credit cards I'm for it. Twice in the last year I've had accounts and identity highjacked and I had taken extreme precautions to protect against that.

I am glad I'm not the only one. The most convenient AND cheapest station closest to fill up was a Sheetz. They were always great about having paper. Lately it's driving me crazy. Always out....An employee at another station that NEVER has paper in the printers told me that the owner doesn't want to spend the money. The owner told all employees that if anyone needs a receipt, they can come in. I don't think they realize how much this costs them.
