Crazy quote for hardscaping insurance!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get your feedback on a quote I got from my insurance broker for hardscaping insurance. I live in Oregon, if it makes any difference.

My current policy is $812/year and covers landscape gardening, lawn care, and tree trimming up to 30 feet at 1 mil/2mil aggregate.

The hardscaping policy would add decks/fences, pavers and walkways, and small garden structures to the coverage (same 1mil/2mil aggregate) but would be $3400/year!

Can some of you landscape contractors who do hardscaping and installs please weigh in on this?

Thank you!

HaHa... So you are paying 37.50 a month for everything? Can you define everything? Everything as in maybe your shovel, or a couple rakes....

Curios Arvydas.... Does that include vehicle?

Also, RJ, does yours include vehicle?

Or, do you guys do the vehicle seperate?

Reason I ask is because I have my commercial vehicle and my commercial liability from the same company...

People don't tend to sue you for a bad lawn cut. Make what they think is a substandard deck or patio and they will be much more inclined for legal action. I suspect your insurance company knows that all to well.

No, that quote doesn't include my truck or trailer. I just got another quote for 2600, which is certainly better than 3400.

All you guys who do tree pruning and hardscaping along with regular maintenance, what are you paying per year for insurance?

I actually just got a quote last week for my new insurance, for my truck and trailer, and to be covered for Landscaping, Construction and Masonry I'm paying $1,200 a year through USAA.
I was told that was pretty cheap, it's my first year in business.
