What do you think about this organic fertilizer?

Hi!
I would like to know your opinions about the following organic fertilizer:

N - 2,5%
P - 2,5%
K - 2,5%
MgO - 1,3%
Organic Matter - 60%

For lawns, the dosage is 1000-1500kg/ha or 20-30kg/200 square meters.

So that is 20 pounds per 1000 sqft. That is a lot of inert matter to be hauling. The nitrogen per thousand sqft would be .5 pounds. You would need to refill your spreader about every two minutes.
Like most organics the phosphorus is very high; not much is actually needed, for grass.
Compare to Milorganite at 6-2-0. It is 2.5 times more concentrated.

This means for an average 8000 sqft lawn you would need about 160 pounds. For a typical day of 15 such lawns you would need 2400 pounds, (1091 Kg).

Perhaps you should talk to Phasthound about a "bridge product". You could use about 90 percent organic as slow release, and a small percentage of urea for fast uptake when the weather is too cold for bacterial activity. Barry can help. Also ask about "Screamin' Green". It won't damage the soil microflora.

Thanks Riggle. Without knowing what the organic matter is derived from or the turf type, I could not make any recommendations for or against this fertilizer.

Hi! Thanks for your replies!

I can see this in the package:

"organic fertilizer pellets of animal origin, coming from controlled aerobic fermentation"

That is a very vague description. You must be careful of e coli and other pathogens. What country are you located in? Is this for personal use or commercial applications?

I wish I could be of more help to you but "organic fertilizer pellets of animal origin, coming from controlled aerobic fermentation" could mean anything. In the USA we have stricter labeling laws.
