Dumb move on my part

After being in the business for 25 years I guess I'm allowed to make one mistake. Today I pulled up to a customers house and there were 2 trucks in the driveway and one parked in front of the house. Nowhere else for me to park so I pulled up tight in front of the one parked in the street. I proceeded to mow like always. As I was loading the mower back into the trailer the homeowner came out and asked if I could lift my ramp on the trailer up as it was blocking his exit from the driveway. I smiled and obliged going one better by pulling the truck forward since the other parked truck had left while I was mowing. Unfortunately I made the mistake of taking my trimmer out and laying it on the grass. As I pulled forward I looked in my rear view mirror to see my trimmer flip up in the air as I drove over it The customer waiting for me to move yelled for me to stop but I figured I had no reason to remove my headphones so I didn't hear him yell. Believe it or not the shaft was only slightly bent and I got it almost straightened by standing on it. The guard broke off but I had a spare to replace it with. I also had a backup trimmer in the trailer but didn't need it because the bent trimmer ran just fine. No vibrations and the head spun freely. Go figure? Hopefully I won't make this mistake again for another 25 years.

25 years and that is your "mistake". I would think of yourself as lucky, considering some of the stories I have heard from other people.

I like when i have headphones, and i can see their lips moving, and i can't hear them. It surprises me that it doesn't occur to them that my ears are covered, and i can't hear. Sometimes between mowing, blowin, trimming, or when i'm at the truck, i take one ear off, because i know that covered ears attracts yappers.

can't say I've ever run over my own gear before… but I DO hate it when someone interrupts my jive… it ALWAYS causes some kind of problem…. something gets out of order or forgotten.

That's why I dislike trailers… the parking space issue… what kind of mower do you run?

Because I'm a "jive" person myself, I have to protect myself from myself. I always have to be cautious of everything, as I quickly forget whatever it is I was doing or tending to. One thing I never do is sit anything on the ground. I always put it in my trailer or truck. Assuredly, it will get left or ran over, if I don't. I simply can't afford mistakes.
